    Digital Fringe – Call for submissions is open!! 

    Open up your hard drives and let that creative content out! Digital Fringe is seeking submissions of digital visual material to screen across the world as part of The Age 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

    Put your latest digital art online for the world to see; anything from stills to animations, video art to short films, even abstract pieces. These submissions will make up the Digital Fringe General Stream which will be broadcast on screens across Victoria and will also be accessible online between 26 September and 12 October, 2008.

    This year’s content will be broadcast on screens around Melbourne including: the giant screen at Federation Square and a projection on the side of the Northcote Town Hall, as well as popping up on small screens in the most unlikely places.

    Call for artists: Exquisite Creature Totem Pole 

    Tape Projects Presents

    Exquisite Creature
    A Collective TV Totem-pole Creation

    This is an invitation to be part of the Exquisite Creature TV totem pole.

    A stack of TVs will form the vessel in which a mass of screen-based works will loop to reveal a shape-shifting mutant being. It is up to you to choose one body part from a creature, real or imagined, and create a 30 second video or animation.

    You are also asked to offer up objects/images/tactile paraphernalia that relate to your video piece to create extensions of the TVs, further adorning the TV body.

    Work must be received by Wed June 18th 2008 along with a completed submission form downloadable from the Tape Projects website.

    Call for screen based projects: Urban Screens Melbourne 08 

    URBAN SCREENS MELBOURNE 08
    Urban Screens Melbourne 08 is the third, ground-breaking international conference and multimedia exhibition in a series of worldwide events around the redefinition of a growing digital infrastructure of moving images in public space. It will mark the official launch of the International Urban Screens Association and will take place 3 – 8 October at Federation Square, Melbourne. Federation Square is a unique cultural and community oriented multimedia precinct, centred around a significant public LED screen. The Urban Screens 08 exhibition is looking for Artists, Urban Poets, Filmmakers and Multimedia and Interaction Designers to submit film and videos or multimedia, interactive or participatory screen based projects. A large diverse urban screens infrastructure is available at Federation Square.
    Deadline for submissions is 31 May, 2008.

    The 4th Edition

    25 FPS International Experimental Film and Video Festival is organized by the 25 FPS Association for Audio-visual Research in Zagreb, Croatia.

    Short experimental film and video up to 20 minutes. 25 FPS is looking for works that use conceptual and technological possibilities of film and video; works that relate to the tradition of experimental and avant-garde film making in an innovative way; works that reveal new forms of the moving image.

    Deadline for submission: May 1st 2008
    Festival dates: 23 – 28 September 2008
    Selection results: June 15th 2008

    LIQUID ARCHITECTURE 9 (SYDNEY) – Call for installation & screen works 

    LIQUID ARCHITECTURE (SYDNEY) is calling for submissions for sound-
    based installation works and video based short screen works to be
    presented at Liquid Architecture 9, Sydney 2008.

    Liquid Architecture is Australia’s premier sound-arts festival that
    celebrates the diverse methods of sound making and sound theory.
    Occurring annually since 2000, Liquid Architecture is a sense
    specific festival that focuses upon sound practice in all its
    manifestations. Due to the cross disciplinary potential of sound, the
    artistic content of the festival encompasses many art practices,
    presented in the form of live performances, exhibitions,
    installations, AV presentations and recorded works. A key objective
    of the festival is the promotion of artists practicing on the
    periphery of music and sound culture, particularly those with an
    experimental aesthetic and a critical approach to media cultures.
    Liquid Architecture is held annually in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne
    and features performances and works by Australian and international

    ELECTROFRINGE 2008 – CALL FOR PROPOSALS

    Electrofringe 2008 is now calling for proposals for this year’s festival from artists, media makers, curators, researchers, playful experimenters, enthusiasts, writers and producers.

    Electrofringe is a five day festival of electronic arts and culture occurring as part of This Is Not Art in Newcastle Australia. Electrofringe is dedicated to furthering the creative use of technology and electronic art forms with focus upon skills exchange and development. In 2008 Electrofringe is also including a residency program in Newcastle during the lead up the the festival to allow for the creation of site specific work.

    Electrofringe is seeking proposals in the following program areas:

    Artist and Project Presentations, Panels, Workshops, Site Specific Residencies, Special Events, Electro-Online (web based art) and Electro-Screen (single channel video based works).

    WORKSHOP, PRESENTATION, PANEL AND RESIDENCY PROPOSALS ARE DUE BY THE 31ST OF MARCH 2008
